We were stolen, enslaved, brutally beaten, women were raped, children and babies were trampled upon and killed, and sold in the slave trade that thousands never saw their families again on Earth, by the British in our the Mother Land, Africa.
Look back over the years, and take notice that Black History began millions of years ago, in the beginning of man. God created us all, and we don't always understand His purpose or plan, but one thing we do know, is that He loves us all, yet the struggles we all face do not make sense until we look back and see how far we have come, with His help and direction into what we have accomplished, fought for and won battles to get where we are now - and still striving to reach higher ground. It has definitely not been easy, yet we did then and still do today, which is lean on, trust in and rely on God for His wisdom and courage to endure.
The songs we sing are from the soul because it touches us deeply when we know, WITHOUT A DOUBT, it is our Lord and Savior that brought us through.
The suffering we endured and still endure as blacks, did not hinder us to give up and quit, Our contribution to the New World as the British called it then, is astonishing! The medicine, agriculture, blood banks, poetry, architecture, preaching, inventions dating back from the time we were drug over here has shaped, molded, and established this country called America to what it is today.
We have NOTHING to be ashamed of as a black man and woman, because we are the salt and light in this world and still fighting, thriving, and recognizing our ancestors who made African Americans a path that we all walk in today.
I John 1:5-7 AMP
5 This is the message [of God’s promised revelation] which we have heard from Him and now announce to you, that God is Light [He is holy, His message is truthful, He is perfect in righteousness], and in Him there is no darkness at all [no sin, no wickedness, no imperfection]. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].
America is only 248 years old, and will turn 249 years, July 4, 2025.We are a very young country. Many wars have been fought by black men to win battles to make the United States a country. Still there is no unity we can build without first setting aside anger and hate in order to achieve a country whose morals and values should be to love one another and help each other in our greatest need.
Our contribution besides war, are too numerous to name, whereas, a few are mentioned below:
A small part of blacks contributions:

Ann Turbno Malone |
- Thomas Jennings invented dry cleaning in 1821
- Ed Dwight first Black accepted into the Astronaut program
- Ann Turnbo Malone invented the first black hair care product called Poro and became a millionaire. She also established a Cosmetology School and developed makeup for black women
- Anna Mangin invented the pastry fork that was patent on March 1, 1892.
- Charles Drew improved blood transfusion and developed the blood bank
- Matthew Henson. First to reach North Pole
- Martin Robison Delaney- His legacy of being an entrepreneur, politician, physician, a Major in the military colored troops regiment, a judge, and even campaigning for Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina; where he lost by a narrow margin; as well as establishing and publishing several newspaper (co-editing the North Star with Frederick Douglass, 1847-1849), and wrote several books.
- Robert smalls - first black politician in the State of South Carolina, freed slaves and was a Sea Captain for the union Navy.
There are numerous Biblical heroes and heroines, which is our heritage, that also paved the way for people of color and Christians who were also oppressed and held in contempt. BUT God gave them the wisdom, courage, knowledge, strength, insight, and faith to endure the hardships they faced, which back then, tried to eliminate the Jews - and the World is trying to do the same today. Whether man is aware of it or not, God is in control of us all, not man.
Here are a few prominent black men and women of the Bible God chose to be examples to us all of how faith and trust in God, miracles happen; and His Truth and Faithfulness endures forever
- Abram who was later named Abraham -called the Father of Faith
- Noah - received righteousness and favor from God because he lived a righteous life in a corrupt world and saved his family from God's Judgment.
- Deborah - a prophet, judge, and military leader.
- King Solomon - the wisest and richest man ever to live. There has been none before him or after him.
- Elisha - A Prophet prayed to God to smite the Syrian army with blindness to keep them from being attacked and led them away to Samaria.
- David - King of Israel and “A man after God’s Own heart”. David conquered many cities in war, and wrote most of the Book of Psalms. He did much more but you can read about all of God’s children in your free time.
Jesus healed sickness and diseases, cast out demonic spirits, preached the Good News, and died a horrible death to give us all life - not just blacks or whites, but ALL who believe. He ate with notorious sinners, walked with those of little significance in the world, and fed thousands with five loaves of bread and two fish. Of course, He did more miracles than mentioned, however, His purpose was to free those who were in bondage to sin. He had compassion for the lost and showed His disciples how to always help those in need. He specifically did not choose the wealthy, educated, or anyone of prominent status to be His disciple. He chose those whose hearts were open to believe in Him and His passion.
I Corinthians 1:23-31 AMPC
23 We preach Christ (the Messiah) crucified, [preaching which] to the Jews is a scandal and an offensive stumbling block [that springs a snare or trap], and to the Gentiles it is absurd and utterly unphilosophical nonsense.
24 But to those who are called, whether Jew or Greek (Gentile), Christ [is] the Power of God and the Wisdom of God.
25 [This is] because the foolish thing [that has its source in] God is wiser than men, and the weak thing [that springs] from God is stronger than men.
26 For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth.
27 [No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame.
28 And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose and bring to nothing the things that are,
29 So that no mortal man should [have pretense for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.
30 But it is from Him that you have your life in Christ Jesus, Whom God made our Wisdom from God, [revealed to us a knowledge of the divine plan of salvation previously hidden, manifesting itself as] our Righteousness [thus making us upright and putting us in right standing with God], and our Consecration [making us pure and holy], and our Redemption [providing our ransom from eternal penalty for sin].
31 So then, as it is written, Let him who boasts and proudly rejoices and glories, boast and proudly rejoice and glory in the Lord.

In the midst of darkness, hate, cynicism, prejudice, oppression, separation, aggravation, rape, shackled, lynched, beat, degraded, and humiliated, we, as African Americans, continue to walk with our head held high, in spite of the deep struggles, with unshakable faith in God to bring a nation together one day with heartfelt love for Him and our fellow man. We will not give up even though the going gets tough, it is our duty, our purpose, and our mission to march on until Victory is won. Our Anthem is:
Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on 'til victory is won.
