Imagine taking a house approximately 2500 square feet and
downsizing it to fit into a tiny house that is 250 sq. ft. Yep! You know what
I’m about to say, “The thought of getting rid of almost all of your belongings is overwhelming”! There are so many things
you want to keep; but can’t!
Now what I’m about to say might not makes sense to you, but
it makes perfect sense to me. I have watched married couples in general over
the years and I have been encouraged by every situation in the immature couples
as well as the mature!
Every action begins with a thought. The immature
couples try to cram one week into one day! When your thoughts are overloaded so
is your actions; and your life! It’s no fun when you are always playing catch-up!
Spending weekends catching up on work that needs to be done around the house
gets exhausting! You are not in the mood, nor do you really want to wash ten
loads of close in a day, cut the grass, clean the house, etc. Get rid of the
clutter in your thoughts and you will get rid of the clutter in your household!
The more mature couples know how to collaborate with each
other. They understand the importance of communication and delegation without
anyone feeling inferior towards the other. All week they share the duties of
the house and the children; whereas, they nip the overload in the bud.
No marriage or relationship is perfect. Keep in mind, relationships do take commitment and work, even a relationship
with God. Schedules will not always stay on track, things happen that throw
them off, but it doesn’t mean you have to stay off track. You will want to be
flexible and understanding with each other when they do.
Again, you are not perfect, so don’t expect your spouse to
be. And if you catch yourself becoming frustrated, go some place where you can
be alone and pray; God will give you an answer!
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not
sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single
hour to your life? “And why
do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not
labor or spin. Yet I
tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here
today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe
you—you of little faith? So do
not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What
shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after
all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you
as well. Therefore
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own. Matthew
6:25-34 NIV
